Initial Consultation with First Acupuncture Treatment - $60.00
This is a meeting between you and the practitioner, where you will discuss what you would like to attain in your quest for health and any concerns you may have regarding your treatment. There will be paperwork to fill out regarding your previous medical history and current state of health. Some questions will pertain to pain, sleep, bowel movements/urination, appetite, digestion, diet, medications, ect... Your answers may reveal a pattern of disharmony in the body which allows the practitioner to form a treatment plan. Also you will be asked to stick out your tongue and let the practitioner feel your wrist pulses. The tongue exam and pulse diagnosis reveal different states of the internal organs. If you have never experienced acupuncture or it has been quite some time since your last treatment, this acupuncture experience is likened to an "opening" of the energy pathways in the body and may be very subtle yet very powerful.
Some tips for those receiving acupuncture/massage/bodywork...
- Wear loose comfortable clothing.
- Drink plenty of water after therapy.
- Please have eaten a small meal within the few hours before your treatment.
- If you feel 'spaced out' after a treatment, sit a while, have some tea or water before driving home.
- Feel free to call with any questions or concerns after treatment.
- Expect subtle changes to take place over the next 5 days, especially with any pain conditions.
We request that you schedule the first follow-up treatment within 1 week from your initial treatment. At this treatment we will review your general health, tongue and pulses, your chief concerns and any recent changes in your state of health in order to track progress. This acupuncture treatment and future treatments may combine with some massage, auricular (ear) acupuncture, discussion of herbal formulas, supplements or dietary changes, if needed. In any therapy, and especially while trying to establish a new pattern in the body, it is best to receive more in the beginning stages and slowly taper down to maintenance treatments (once every 2-6 weeks).
